Prayer is essential in the life of a Christ Follower and so it is at IDES. IDES staff places a high priority on praying every day as a group, and every Tuesday on our own throughout the day. We cannot do this work without God’s grace and guidance.

Two years ago, we began praying for God’s direction on how to expand our international disaster response and development efforts. God began laying on our hearts a longing to better serve the kingdom by meeting long-term development needs of communities.

God has continued to answer those prayers. After watching God open doors, this year we hired a Field Services Director and brought our first Field Workers on to the IDES team. We can’t wait to see how God uses them to grow His Kingdom as they continue their church plant and train up elders.

Field Workers are IDES’ missionaries meeting long-term physical and spiritual needs in or of a community. Through our field workers, we will have better evaluation, assessment, and execution on projects that will have the greatest kingdom impact.

IDES Field Workers in New Zealand

Vision:

Field Workers are equipped and trained individuals or teams committed to developing partnerships with Indigenous people who have a vision to transform their communities. We affirm every person’s worth and seek to address the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being of people and communities.

Development:

Field workers are embedded in communities seeking to bring about transformational change through meeting physical needs such as hunger relief, clean water projects, and medical care. We focus on long-term solutions and collaborative relationships.

Disciple Making:

Integral Disciple Making (IDM) is a ‘new/old' strategy and practice of Kingdom building. Modeled from the integral mission of Jesus, whose acts of love and compassion demonstrated the proclaimed Word, IDM embraces the Gospel mandate for integral mission. All our Field Workers are trained in this discipline.

Disaster Response:

Our field workers will act as our first responders and establish “boots on the ground” when disasters strike in their regions thus enabling us to respond more proactively than ever before.
